American Idoru ... is the road to HAL 2001 paved with Graph Search? http://cbsn.ws/WbxvhB
FB's new Open Graph Search is an attempt to build a living, organically-changing map of all our various online relationships. "Yelp is mapping out the part of the graph that relates to small businesses," Zuck explained when this initiative was announced about putting our tangled web of connections - FB & otherwise - into one place. "Pandora is mapping out the part of the graph that relates to music. If we can take these separate maps of the graph and pull them all together, then we can create a Web that's smarter, more social, more personalized, and more semantically aware."
The phrase immediately brought to mind for me the William Gibson novel in which a (human) music celeb (interesting coincidence that one of the first sites FB partnered with on this, Pandora, is all about the music) wants to marry the very lovely & very synthetic - but definately semantically (& romantically) aware - Rei Toei.
