Will Graph Search one-degree-of-Kevin-Bacon'ize us all? http://bit.ly/Tc2D1A
With a billion active users that have a mindboggling trillion connections between them - connections that are active, mind you - Facebook's Graph Search will let you extend the circle of friends you currently mine for opinions and data to their pals.
Interviewing at a new company? Just ferret out some of your friends' friends to get some juicy info to help get a leg up on the competition & your foot in the door. Wishing one of your pals was free to attend the game? Hit up on one of their like-minded pals. Single? Wouldn't you rather date someone you met through someone you already know? Roof leaking? Someone you know knows a roofer who won't rip you off.
This type of search expands on our natural tendencies IRL to ask a friend first. And while this extended reach will come at a price, that of more-more-more FB in your life, the rich search results will help offset that cost to some degree. Especially when you compare them with the bland & often-off-kilter results from you get from Googling it.
