The Pig Trend in Pop Culture #6: a sweet sterling silver Piggy Bank charm http://bit.ly/117jwZ9
Piggy banks apparently owe their lineage to a type of orange clay called - in 15th century English - "pygg". Pygg was used to make everything from dishes to jars and later, the now-iconic porcine pot for collecting coins. Probably by a potter with a cheeky sense of humor and love of word play.
The copper penny attached to this adorbs charm reads "A penny saved is a penny earned".
