You just knew this was coming: Dean Heller’s Party Bosses Do About Face & Embrace Todd Akin Heller Has Raised Over $140,000 For NRSC, Has Received Over $100,000 From NRSC, But Has Been Silent Since His Party Bosses Embraced Akin’s Candidacy A Vote For Heller Is A Vote For Todd Akin’s Extreme Views Dean Heller’s party bosses did an about face yesterday and decided to take the first step to embrace extreme anti-woman candidate Todd Akin, the Missouri Republican who set off a national firestorm when he said that only “legitimate rape” can result in pregnancy. Dean Heller and Republican Party organizations in Nevada have received more than $100,000 from the National Republican Senatorial Committee and Heller has even raised over $140,000 to support their efforts to elect Republican Senate candidates like Akin. Heller has even supported some of the same positions as Akin and now must answer for his party’s decision to support Akin’s candidacy. “There should be no doubt that a vote for Dean Heller is also a vote for an anti-woman party that supports extremists like Todd Akin,” said Guy Cecil, Executive Director for the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee. “Todd Akin’s views represent the official position of the Republican Party, and a vote for Heller is a vote to inflict that anti-woman agenda on the entire country. Heller’s silence speaks volumes. Heller should immediately demand his money back and renounce the party’s decision to embrace Todd Akin.”
