If you ever wished you could use a seven-inch tablet as your phone, good news: Your wait is almost over!
Asus unveiled its solution for users fed up with the cramped confines of the Samsung Galaxy Note 2's 5.5-inch screen and still unsatisified by the 6.1-in. display of Huawei's upcoming Ascend Mate: the Fonepad, a 3G phone with a 7-in. LCD.
This Android tablet could be confused at first for the Nexus 7 Asus builds for Google, except that, yes, it includes an actual phone's chipset, microphone and speaker. (That's me pretending to make a call on the thing in the photo.) At its Mobile World Congress press conference, Asus said the Fonepad will sell for $249 in March, but it didn't identify which carrier might sell it.
Also unsaid: why a device this large couldn't accommodate LTE support. Will a future 8-in. version add that?
