The Cubs have turned their international interest to Japanese closer Kyuji Fujikawa. He is in demand
with the Dodgers, Rangers, Diamondbacks and Angels among the teams also interested in him. Gerry Fraley of the Dallas Morning News reports today that Fujikawa has already toured the Cubs' facilities in Mesa. The 32-year-old right-hander is a closer for the Hanshin Tigers and was on Japan's team in the 2006 and '09 World Baseball Classic. He's reported to have a mid-90s fastball and has averaged 11.9 strikeouts per nine innings in his career. He was 2-2 with 24 saves and a 1.32 ERA last season. He's a free agent, so not subject to the complicated posting process.
