No word from Bud Selig yet on Marlins' salary dump trade. A spokesman for MLB said this morning
that the deal hasn't been submitted by the teams. It should be soon, however. It will be interesting to see if Selig has any response at the owners' meetings in Chicago. Selig was very involved in helping the Marlins get public money for a new stadium and he would be sensitive to criticism that Jeffrey Loria is pulling a quick one by stripping his payroll after one season in the new stadium. The problem with blocking the deal is that there is a relatively small amount of money ($4 million, reportedly) changing hands. It's a very interesting situation.
