Clayton Kershaw was the unhappiest man in a pretty happy #Dodgers clubhouse tonight.
Kershaw: “I was pretty terrible tonight. I was awful. A two-out walk to the freaking pitcher. I beat myself tonight.
“The bullpen was awesome. The Ellis brothers were awesome. The team won despite me tonight, not because of me.”
The walk to Mets reliever Robert Carson, another walk and two-out RBI singles by Daniel Murphy and David Wright in the third inning clearly stuck in Kershaw's craw Tuesday.
"Just a lot of cardinal mistakes I made tonight."
39 pitches in that 3rd inning swelled Kershaw's pitch count. He was out after 111 in 5 innings.
Over his previous 36 starts (since last April 10), Kershaw had failed to pitch into the 6th just once (5 IP at Cincinnati last Sept. 23).
This is the first time he has failed to complete 6 IP in consecutive starts since his first 2 starts in 2010.
