Dewayne Wise has done it again, pulling an Aaron Laffey pitch over the RF fence at Rogers Centre for a homer.
I hated to see Jordan Danks sent to AAA after the White Sox acquired Wise, who was dumped by the Yankees after the trade deadline addition of Ichiro Suzuki. But Wise is off to a tremendous start, going 6-for-14 with 2 HRs and 7 RBIs in 4 games. This is the guy who Ozzie Guillen started ahead of Nick Swisher in the 2008 playoffs, and it looks like he's become a better hitter since then. The Sox passed on some guys with bigger names (including Johnny Damon and Tony Gwynn Jr.) while waiting to land Wise, and it looks like that was time well spent. Nice move by Ken Williams' front office -- especially since they'll have Wise and Danks in September.
