With the White Sox reportedly moving infielder Osvaldo Martinez to the Dodgers for cash considerations, they have only 23-year-old right-hander Jhan Marinez left from the transaction that allowed Ozzie Guillen to jump to the Marlins with one year left on his contract. Martinez has been seen as a possible second-base option when the deal was done but continued the decline that began when he reached the big leagues in 2010. He was hitting .178 for Triple-A Charlotte when he was DFA-ed. Marinez could surface in Chicago at some point. He is pitching well after a slow start for Charlotte, compiling 13 scoreless innings in his last 6 games. He's 2-2 with a 3.14 ERA in 26 appearances overall, holding opponents to a .182 average and striking out 47 in 43 innings.
