Is Carlos Marmol making himself a potential trade chip? He quietly picked up a save for the Cubs last night, his 6th in 6 chances since the All-Star break, and no longer seems as wild as he was in the first half of the season. He's walked 5 in 9 2-3 innings since the All-Star break, compared to 28 in 25 2-3 innings before the break. Like Alfonso Soriano, his contract could allow him to slide through waivers, putting him in play for an August trade, and the Cubs would probably be willing to pay much of the $12 million left on it if they got a young arm in return. Among contenders, the Cardinals, Angels and Tigers are most in need of bullpen help. It's something to watch.
