Javier Baez isn't the only Cub shortstop to watch this winter. Junior Lake is playing for Dave Jauss
with Estrellas in the Dominican Winter League. He has two hits in a game that's still being played tonight, which has raised his average to .294 in five games. He has one home run already after hitting 10 for Double-A Tennessee, where he also stole 21 bases. Lake is a big fellow (6-2, 215) and is awkward in the field, a la Juan Uribe. He seems in danger of being lost in the shuffle between Starlin Castro and Baez but could be a trade chip for the Cubs or a candidate to be a valuable reserve.
