Where in the world is Delonte West?
It's been more than a week since the mercurial combo guard agreed to try to resurrect his career with the D-League Texas Legends, who are the affiliate of and play just 30 minutes north of his former team, the Dallas Mavericks.
And it was last Friday night when Mavs owner Mark Cuban might have dashed West's hopes by saying unequivocally that the Mavs would not be adding West to the roster. Dallas recently signed veteran guard Mike James for the remainder of the season after his second 10-day contract expired.
Remember, Dallas re-signed West in the offseason, but waived him just days before the start of the season after suspending him a second time during training camp for conduct deemed detrimental to the team.
Now, with the Legends beginning their final 25 games of the season at home tonight, where is Delonte West?
No one seems to really know.
A league source said that West might be in the process of dumping agent Dan Fegan and that could be complicating him joining the Legends.
There was some speculation that another NBA team could be kicking his tires, but that has gone unsubstantiated.
Wherever Delonte is and whatever he is doing, he'd be wise to report to a basketball court -- NBA or otherwise -- sooner rather than later.
