Like I said earlier, there's a way to smooth this over if Doc wants back in Boston:
Danny Ainge would have to take all the heat with players and media, letting them know that he started the talks... that he was the one that asked if Doc was open to moving... and that he's the guy who pushed the entire process. Doc and KG can look at the guys and say "we went along with Danny's plan because he thought it would help the team.... and business is business."
Players understand the business side of things. There isn't a guy in that locker room who wouldn't shop himself around if he didn't like his situation or his salary. FA's shop themselves and come back to their teams all the time. This would be like that.
It wouldn't be easy. But IF Doc wanted to come back, there's a way to smooth this all over and make it work. Besides, it's only June 18... there are months to put this behind us and let time heal the wound.
