Brad Biggs's post on Chicago Bears | Latest updates on Sulia
#Bears don’t have a hole at D-end right now but a ton of clamoring for Jason Babin so I called a personnel man ....
Here is what he said about the 32-year-old veteran who has 5 ½ sacks and was placed on waivers today by the Eagles.
“He’s not as explosive as he was last year,” said the scout. “He’s a one-dimensional, get upfield guy. Maybe for a contender that is beat up he would work but ($1.64 million) is a lot of money for the final five games, especially if you’ve got young players you want to use. He can rush the passer but he’s not going to play the run much.”
Would he fit for the #Bears defensive scheme?
“Yeah, he would fit there,” the scout said. “He’d kind of be a third down guy for them but I don’t think they need Jason Babin.”
Waiver claims are due by 3 p.m. Wednesday. Players are awarded off waivers at about 4 p.m. We’ll see if anyone makes a claim for Babin. Keep in mind based on Bears’ 8-3 record, they’re way down the ladder for claims that are made in reverse order of standings.
