Phil Rogers's post on Chicago Cubs | Latest updates on Sulia
The New York Post's Joel Sherman hears the Rangers are the most likely landing spot for Matt Garza. He writes
that the Cubs might be able to get 22-year-old lefty Martin Perez for Garza but I'm not sure about that. Perez is an important part of the Texas rotation at the moment, which would make him a tough piece to acquire, but he could become expendable once Yu Darvish and three other starters return from the DL. The Rangers would try to do the deal with Nick Tepesch or Justin Grimm instead of the more highly regarded Perez. Sherman writes that the Cubs are looking for three players from any team acquiring Garza. MLBtraderumors.com points out that teams interested in Garza have the following prospects ranked among Baseball America's top 50 at mid-season: outfielder Joc Pederson (Dodgers), right-hander Anthony Ranaudo and third baseman Garin Cecchini (Red Sox), shortstop Alen Hanson (Pirates), right-hander Aaron Sanchez (Blue Jays), third baseman Mike Olt (Rangers), outfielder Adam Eaton (Diamondbacks) and second baseman Kolten Wong (Cardinals).
