Phil Rogers's post on Chicago Cubs | Latest updates on Sulia
CBSSports' Jon Heyman is reporting that the chances of the Ryan Dempster-Randall Delgado deal going through is "50/50.'' That's a whole lot less than the 99-percent chance I gave it earlier this afternoon. I still think the deal is going to go through. I think Dempster is miffed that he was put on the spot by public reports of the trade before he had been approached by the Cubs, and that the Cubs are trying their hardest to appease him -- thus the comments by Dale Sveum that the reports were "fabrications.'' That's not the case, but clearly there was some miscommunication. My guess is the Braves jumped the gun, thinking the Cubs had already received Dempster's blessing, when they didn't have it. I still think this is going to be resolved with Dempster going to Atlanta, but Heyman's source says "it could happen or it could blow up.''
