-- Cavs coach Mike Brown said the competition for the starting small forward spot involving Alonzo Gee, C.J. Miles and Earl Clark is wide open. “Everybody is capable of starting at the ‘3,’” Gee said. “It doesn’t matter to me (who starts). I just want to play.”
-- Gee has been bothered by a sore hamstring. He is expected to return for the Charlotte game Tuesday in Canton. “I think he’ll be ready,” Brown said. Gee said he wasn’t ready to play on Friday in Orlando, but it feels fine now.
-- Rookie forward Anthony Bennett, fresh off his 16-point effort vs. Orlando on Friday, has a lot to offer offensively.
“He won’t always make six baskets in a row,” Brown said. “He can score in a lot of different ways. He’s athletic and can take it off the dribble.”
-- Bennett is 2 of 8 from the 3-point line. Miles has also attempted eight 3-pointers. “As long he gets that extra work in (Bennett can shoot 3s),” Brown said. “That’s part of his game. It will get to the point where guys will have to respect his ability to shoot the 3. I’m telling you, his first step is unbelievably quick for a big guy. If he takes one dribble from the 3-point line, it will be a dunk. That will bode well for our team.”
-- Clark is off to a slow start, shooting just 16.7 percent from the field. “Earl has shown flashes,” Brown said.
