Indians almost dealt Asdrubal Cabrera last night
According to Paul Hoynes of the Cleveland Plain Dealer, the Indians had the framework of a deal in place with another team where they would receive a big league pitcher and two high end prospects in exchange for All Star shortstop Asdrubal Cabrera. The deal fell apart when the Indians requested a third prospects - a fourth player overall - be included in the deal. It was also noted that the acquiring team would have moved Cabrera to another position.
While no deal was consummated, this shows how much the Indians are requesting in a deal for Cabrera and also that they are very willing to trade him. As things move along at Nashville the Indians may lighten up on their request for a fourth player be included in a deal, and if so, a deal may in fact happen before the end of the meetings on Thursday.
