50 Shades of Grey: Christian Grey Frontrunner No Longer Ryan Gosling. Could it be Robert Pattinson or Matt Bomer?
All summer long, Hollywood movie insiders have speculated as to which actor will play the role of Christian Grey in the upcoming smash hit movie 50 Shades of Grey, the film adaptation of the popular novel which has become a worldwide success. For weeks, it was assumed that Ryan Gosling is the frontrunner to play the role of Christian Grey, but it seems that the actor may no longer be in the leader for the role.
Gather is reporting that instead of acting, Gosling is stepping into the role of director for his first movie, How to Catch a Monster. "News of Gosling's directorial debut will probably worry some of his fans. What if he falls in love with directing and never shows his pretty face on film again? His fans that are also into 50 Shades of Grey will be so disappointed if he and Emma don't play Christian Grey and Anastasia Steele in the movie.
If Gosling is no longer the frontrunner for the role to play in the movie adaptation of EL James' novel, who is? Here's a recap of the top contenders for the role:
Robert Pattinson has been mentioned in the conversation for several weeks, but his relationship drama with Kristen Stewart may have taken him out of the running. He could attract negative press if he stars in the film, due to Kristen Stewart's infidelity.
Matt Bomer is an openly gay actor who has been a fan favorite for the role on Twitter, after supporters flocked to his side when writer Bret Easton tweeted that Bomer should not play the male lead because he is gay. Ellis' comments may have galvinated the star's supporters.
