Ernie Accorsi was worried that Dave Gettleman's age (61) meant his days as a GM candidate had come and gone.

"He was at the doorstep of the Browns' job twice, and both times they decided to go in another direction," Accorsi said of Gettleman who, at 61 and with Accorsi's blessing, was named GM of the Panthers last week, according to an article on Panthers.com. "Then all of the sudden I'm seeing these guys in their early to mid-30s getting hired as general managers. I was afraid that Dave was going to get into an era here where they're not going to hire somebody that old."
