Have the Warriors hatched a plan that would land them Dwight Howard AND Andre Iguodala? Swinging for the fences...
is clearly part of the offseason plan. According to inside scuttle, the Warriors have told Dwight they have a plan to add him and then possibly bring on free agent swingman Iguodala (which is what USA Today's Sam Amick reported).
Is it farfetched? Perhaps. But so was Dwight Howard to the Warriors when this thing began.
As I've reported in the past, the Warriors have liked Andre Iguodala for years, and that hasn't changed. And Iguodala is a big fan of the Warriors, who ousted his underachieving Nuggets in the first round of the playoffs. The Warriors need another creator, someone who can dribble and pass and make things happen on offense, to help Curry. Iguodala may be the one player for whom the Warriors would be willing to part with Klay Thompson or Harrison Barnes.
According to one source, the Warriors will go after Iguodala even if they don't get Dwight Howard.
So how can this happen?
First, the Warriors would have to get Dwight using just Andrew Bogut and one of their other expiring contracts (with draft picks as sweetners). Then, the Warriors could turn its attention to Denver to try to convince the Nuggets to sign-and-trade Iguodala for a big expiring and Thompson or Barnes. I've only heard Denver doesn't want to do a S&T with GSW, but that package is better than getting nothing for Iggy.
Even if it doesn't happen, it does give some insight into the Warriors' front office vision: swing for the fences.
