Here is my no BS prediction of how the NHL lockout ends:
1. There will most likely be an NHL season. The league got spooked at how much they'll lose if a season gets wiped out again, which heavily explains why it came up a lot today in an offer. 2. But Donald Fehr is no dummy. He now pockets this panicky new offer and negotiates on the margins from here. 3. I see this: Fehr will counter with 53 percent on first year of rev split. League will be shocked and angry, but retreat to camp and come back with "Ok, 53 but now UFA is 29 and deferment agreement is off table. 4 Fehr will counter with "52, plus 7 years on contract length, 28 still on UFA." 5. League will say "52, but 5 years still on contract length, UFA stays at 28." 6. Fehr says "52, 6 years on contract length, deferment agreement back on table." 6. League says "51 on first year, ok you get 6 years on contract length and deferment still on table." 7. Fehr agrees to deal, with, then both sides claim victory and we move on with life
