Google Maps for iOS 1.1 update can route you to Google Contacts, but still can't find iOS's own address book.
The 1.1 version of Google Maps for iOS (http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/google-maps/id585027354?mt=8) adds two features sorely absent from 1.0: searching for local establishments by category ("coffee," "hotels," "bars," etc.) and for people in your Google Contacts.
But it can be easy to miss that second new feature--matching contacts don't show up first in search results, as they do in Apple Maps, but only after other Google search results. This app also continues to ignore iOS's own contacts list.
And if you were hoping to get access in this app to the bicycling directions you can request at Google's maps site and in its Android software, you'll have to hope they arrive in version 1.2.
