Siri's Eyes Free mode won't answer queries it thinks too distracting--and it didn't look too swift in a SXSW demo.
Chevy has a Spark hatchback at SXSW to show off its just-shipped support for Siri's Eyes Free mode. But the demo had some shaky moments.
First, it was slow--Siri's characteristic "ding ding" didn't come up right after a press of the button on the steering wheel. Its answers came late too.
Second, the noisy environment hurt Siri's voice recognition. It didn't recognize the presenter's name and heard "see you tonight" as "do you tonight." (Oops!)
And Siri won't answer questions it thinks complex enough to distract a driver. My joking query "what's a good compact car?" was met with "To ensure your safety, your vehicle won't let me help you with that right now."
