Kevin Ding's post on LA Lakers | Latest updates on Sulia
Phil appeared on "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno" last night and said about Mike D'Antoni: "Mike, with the ...
right personnel is a great coach. This personnel wasn't really quite fit for Mike's coaching. He likes a 3-point shooting group of guys; he likes twos and threes in the corner. His great guard Nash was on the team, obviously; Steve's a great guard. He can distribute the ball. But that other big guy has to be, they call it now a stretch four. He has to be able to shoot 3-pointers. Pau wasn't quite fit into that. Pau and Howard together, too big, too much of a load for that post. He doesn't really like guys in the post. He likes guys outside."
Jackson said he had "serious talk" about joining Seattle if the Kings had relocated from Sacramento. He said he told the Nets he didn't want to coach them: "I'm really not interested in coaching. I'm interested in doing front-office stuff."
About coaching the Lakers again in the future, Jackson answered in a way that shows his desire to have a Tex Winter advisory role from the front office: "I think I've had my shot there. But I have people I have in mind that could take that job. I've got assistant coaches that work for me that are pretty good at that."
Jackson's new book, "Eleven Rings: The Soul of Success," comes out Tuesday.
