Shumpert is still recovering from last season's knee injury, and happily reported his latest progress. More:
"Right now I'm in the power stage; just getting my power back," Shumpert told MSG Network after practice on Tuesday. "I got off the balance stage. Everything goes in stages, so I'm always happy to move to the next thing."
Shumpert had his third year option ($1.7M) picked up by the team, which ensures he will remain under contract through the 2013-14 season, but he certainly figures to play a role this season.
He remains on target for a mid-season return, with the training staff's careful approach -- which is the right thing with such a serious injury -- the only thing slowing him down.
"I don't need any more confidence in my leg," Shumpert said. "It's what they tell me I'm cleared to do."
