.@Amareisreal says he wants to play, but #Knicks rather he's at full health when the games count. More:
"I want to play, but the training staff is telling me to take it easy, no need to rush," Stoudemire said of the left knee bruise that caused him to miss the preseason opener on Thursday. "But me personally, I want to play.”
Stoudemire is listed as "questionable" to play tonight against the Celtics in Hartford, Conn. The next preseason game isn't until Friday against the Raptors, which would allow a full week for the former all-star power forward to heal.
The left knee is an area of concern for Stoudemire, who had microfracture surgery on that knee seven years ago. So there is good reason to be overly cautious with it, even for a bone bruise.
"I can play if I needed to," Stoudemire insisted. "But it's preseason, so we're not looking to force anything now."
