Iman Shumpert will remain on a minutes restriction, but he's hoping his energy will produce results again. More:
"We've been starting games off slow at the Garden," Shumpert said after Sunday's practice. "I want to make sure we get off on the right foot."
Shumpert had a successful, though limited, season debut Thursday against the Pistons in London. Today against the Nets will be Shumpert's first game at MSG since the end of last season. He blew out his left knee in Game 1 of the playoffs in Miami.
"I'll probably have a smile on my face," he said of his home debut. "Even though I'm supposed to have a game face on, I'll probably have a smile on my face."
Mike Woodson said he will confer with the team medical staff about Shumpert's minutes for today's game against the Nets. The 22-year-old Shumpert said he would play 48 minutes if he could, but knows he has to follow the rules.
"I'm going to listen to them," he said. "Thus far, listening to them has got me to a pretty good position."
