Raymond Felton typically isn't a high-volume shooter, but against the Magic he led the team with 23 FGAs. Why?
Felton provided scoring from the point guard position with 21 points on 9 of 23 shooting (3 of 7 from downtown), along with five assists in 37 minutes.
"That's very rare," he said of his shooting total. "I'm not really a point guard that shoots a lot of shots like that."
But why tonight did Felton look to score more than usual?
"[The Magic] were going under the screens, so the shots were there," he explained. "I had to be aggressive."
Orlando played Felton to shoot and had guards slide under the screens on the pick-and-roll in order to slow down the Knicks bigs. That left Felton plenty of space to take shots and he had to in order to keep the defenses honest.
Pablo Prigioni, who almost never looks at the rim, also had that mentality when he played. He took three shots in seven minutes, which, for him, is a high volume.
