Carmelo Anthony expressed disappointment for Stoudemire and concern about the start of the season. His words:
“It’s sad right now, it seems he can’t catch a break. Hopefully it’s nothing too serious," Anthony said after Sunday's practice in Syracuse.
Regarding the injury issues Stoudemire has endured since Anthony arrive in New York, Melo said, "It’s always a knack here, a knack there, but we’ve got his back and the most important thing is for him to get healthy right now and take the time to do that. We’ll hold it down for him.”
Melo proved late last season, when Stoudemire missed 13 games with a bulging disk in his back, that he can carry this team. But that wasn't how this season was supposed to start.
"It's big," Melo said of losing Stoudemire, "especially when our goal was to start off and try to make this push from Day One."
