One corner outfielder who wasn't -- and apparently won't be at any point -- a trade possibility for the Pirates is the Cubs' Alfonso Soriano. He declined to accept a trade to Pittsburgh, I learned tonight. Now, I don't know how far talks might have gone, if they started all. Just that, whether they did or not, Soriano wasn't coming to the Pirates. So scratch him off your list of potential non-waiver acquisitions, too. ... Too bad. That actually might have made a neat fit. For both teams.
