What do Steelers do know without Colon? DeCastro?
LG Willie Colon aggravated a left knee injury against the Chargers and the Steelers do not expect him to play the rest of the season.
The plan right now is to have All-Pro center Maurkice Pouncey move to left guard and have Doug Legursky play center the rest of the season. That's what the Steelers did last week against the Baltimore Ravens when Colon missed his second game in a row.
The coaches believe Legursky is more effective at center than guard because he plays better with his shoulders square to the line of scrimmage. And Pouncey is more suited to guard than Legursky because he is more athletic and able to pull on their counter plays.
It’s possible the Steelers could eventually use rookie No. 1 David DeCastro at left guard when he is ready to play. But, for now, they will use Pouncey at left guard.
