DeMarcus Cousins is not with the Kings in Portland
PORTLAND – Kings center DeMarcus Cousins is not with the team and will not play against the Portland Trail Blazers.
It was coach Keith Smart’s decision not to bring Cousins on the trip.
Cousins was reinstated from an indefinite suspension Monday, but Smart said reinstatement meant Cousins could would be allowed to practice, not necessarily play.
This will be the second game Cousins missed since his verbal altercation at halftime of last Friday’s loss to the Clippers in Los Angeles.
Smart benched Cousins for the second half of that game and left him in the locker room for the remainder of the game.
The Kings beat the Trail Blazers, 108-96, Sunday without Cousins.
Tyreke Evans (sore left knee) also did not make the trip.
Evans has played in three games since he bumped knees with Andrei Kirilenko Nov. 27. Evans will have missed 10 of the last 13 games because of his knee.
