Facebook now wants to know if I know new friends outside of Facebook. I'm glad it's asking.
The last few times I accepted friend requests on Facebook, the social network asked me a question immediately afterwards: "Do you know [so-and-so] outside of Facebook?"
I don't know if management there is conducting research or trying to send a hint about the risks of friending people you don't actually know--I asked Facebook PR late last week and have yet to hear back--but it's the right question to ask. (Have you gotten that as well?)
For me, it only reinforces my judgment that my Facebook connections are best limited to people I'd recognize if we met face to face. Even if I look snooty as I unfriend acquaintances I'd accepted as Facebook contacts in my early enthusiasm.
