#Cardinals GM Mozeliak on not hearing the service-time clock tick when making roster decisions for prospects ...
"I’m not worried about the clock," Mozeliak said. "The media is making a lot of the clock. Other people who read the media are making more of it. To me it’s like that’s not what is making our decisions. It’s managing our decisions for what’s best for the club and what’s best for the individuals in their own silo of development."
Mozeliak has said that the clock does play a role in the discussions, and that at times eying a players service time and arbitration eligibility factors in when all other things are equal. The "clock" is often tied to June, when at some point in the middle of the month a player can come up this season without being a candidate for Super-2 status, which triggers arbitration rights a year earlier than the standard player.
