Keeping some Hulu shows "Web-only" is idiotic. Who comes up with this nonsense?
If you tried to watch the season finale of 30 Rock in Hulu's iPad app, you would have seen the results above--a notice that the show is "Web-only." Yes, even if you pay for Hulu Plus.
On what planet does that restriction accomplish anything? At best, this artificial scarcity forces the viewer to fish out an HDMI cable to connect a laptop to the TV (as we did, with a detour to find the right adapter for my MacBook Air--thanks, Apple!). At worst, the viewer goes to BitTorrent to grab a copy of the show. I'll bet most people go watch something else--eating into any potential profit from putting the show on Hulu in the first place.
One thing's for sure: I don't want to hear any whining about how hard it is to compete online from the idiots responsible for this decision.
