Ryan Wolstat's post on Toronto Raptors | Latest updates on Sulia
Extended thoughts on the Raptors and the question of what changes need to be made (1-of-2):
Should they fire Dwane Casey: Hell no.
He needs a roster that fits him and Andrea Bargnani is the most glaring piece that doesn't fit. He's regressed this year, but his mistakes are fixable. How about some consistency on the Toronto coaching scene for once. He didn't have success in the past by accident. He didn't turn around Toronto's defence last season by luck.
Should they fire Bryan Colangelo: No.* Who is going to replace him? They should start over? He has drafted pretty well in the first round (horribly in the second). Bargnani was a B- pick (nobody was taking Rondo or Roy there, he thought Aldridge and Bosh were same player and was worried about his health issues. Gay should have been the pick, but Bargnani was a gamble that never fully worked out.
2009 went with DeRozan. That's a B. Thought Holiday would have been better choice then and now, but still a solid one. Nobody was going to take Lawson that high.
2010 went with Ed Davis, a B+ in a draft that didn't have much too it by the time the Raptors picked.
2011 picked Jonas Valanciunas, an A+
2012 the jury is out, but Ross is a player. I think it will be another B, but it's very early.
So that's about a B+ with first round picks, almost any GM would take that.
He also did even better in that department in Phoenix, probably earning an A for his work there.
