It appears the Cubs are entering the late stages of their search to replace Bob Brenly on their telecasts. In the
running are Rick Sutcliffe, Eric Karros, Dan Plesac, Todd Hollandsworth, Doug Glanville and possibly one or two others. I've thought for a long time that Sutcliffe would be the frontrunner if he is willing to walk away from ESPN, which would be very difficult given how the exposure that job gives him and his happiness there. Plesac, who left Comcast SportsNet Chicago to take a full-time gig with the MLB Network in 2009, is perhaps the second strongest candidate, although I wouldn't discount the chances of any of the finalists. Unfortunately, one name not in the picture is Mark Grace, due to his legal issues in Arizona.
