Bronco briefs: Paris Lenon likely to replace injured MLB Wesley Woodyard; Champ Bailey back, but not Robert Ayers:
Lenon didn’t join the Broncos until Aug. 20, and then he spent most of his first two weeks trying to learn their defensive system. Middle linebacker is the most cerebral of the defensive positions because he often calls the plays and makes sure players are lined up correctly. Is Lenon ready?
“I’m up to speed,’’ he said. “It’s different terminology but ultimately, everybody pretty much runs the same things.’’
Every NFL team plays a two-deep or quarters coverage. Every NFL team has a man pressure and zone pressure. It’s just one team might play a heavier percentage of two safety coverage than another.
“You do have to get familiar with the terminology and the new system and that’s a process,’’ Lenon said. “But it’s not too overwhelming.’’
