Total two-year cost of ownership of Samsung's Galaxy S 4 on AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile and Verizon Wireless
With Samsung's new Galaxy S 4 smartphone about to go on sale, what will it cost you at the major carriers? Assuming as I did for the iPhone 5 (http://sulia.com/channel/iphone-ipad/f/1a8201d9-27b9-48e4-a171-a1d831888020/) that you text reasonably often, talk less than 400 minutes a month and use no more than 2 GB of data--and are coverage-agnostic--here are the numbers:
AT&T: $199.99 for the phone + $89.99/month service = $2,359.75
Sprint: $249.99 for the phone + $79.99/month service = $2,169.75. But: subtract $100 if your port your number to Sprint.
T-Mobile: $149.99 for the phone upfront + $60/month service + $20/month to pay off the phone = $2,069.99
Verizon Wireless: $199.99* for the phone + $100/month service = $2,599.99*
* That's a guess based on reports of prices at third-party Verizon retailers (http://www.gottabemobile.com/2013/04/23/verizon-samsung-galaxy-s4-price-tipped-by-best-buy/); the carrier itself hasn't provided details yet.
