Oatmeal cartoonist Matthew Inman doesn't like comments (among other things I learned from his SXSW keynote).
Matthew Inman, the twisted soul who draws The Oatmeal (theoatmeal.com), gave a highly entertaining talk at SXSW this afternoon. A few choice quotes that I didn't get to tweet out:
On creativity: "Inspiration is like food poisoning--it just sprays out of you."
In defense of not allowing comments: "It's okay for your work to be a rhetorical performance."
About YouTube's comments: "I have never watched a YouTube video and read the comments and felt better about myself."
On getting an absurd lawsuit for attacking FunnyJunk for ripping off his content: "The first thing that came out of me was the comedian, not the human being: 'This is gold!'"
Ever do anything you didn't want to post on the Web? "That's like half my hard drive."
