EmoVu's remote detection of your emotions through a computer's webcam can be creepy. And highly amusing!
One of yesterday's more intriguing Demo launches came from Eyeris Technology, which introduced an app called EmoVu that uses your computer's webcam to gauge your emotional reaction to a video (http://eyeristechnologies.com/emovu/).
The idea is to broaden marketing far beyond marketing groups, although what kind of lure would get people to opt into having a Web site watch them watch a video clip escapes me somewhat.
I had to try it, so I looked at the screen, smiled and saw the "Joy" graph climb. I stuck out my tongue, and "Disgust" bumped up. Then I thought of a horrible old content-management system and the "Anger" line spiked instantly--which immediately caused me to break out in laughter, which in turn sent "Joy" back up again.
