Two cases of denial from 90 minutes of my life I'm never getting back--Paul Jacobs' CES keynote
If you look over my tweets from Qualcomm CEO Paul Jacobs's pre-show keynote last night, you'll see my frustration with a prolonged, incoherent event that somehow featured Steve Ballmer, Maroon 5, director Guillermo del Toro, actress Alice Eve, NASCAR driver Brad Keselowski and, via video, Desmond Tutu. And a morning later, two items still irk me:
* Jacobs' glowing description of how Qualcomm's chipsets will let you record 4K video from a phone. Has he noticed the availability of mobile bandwidth sufficiently fast for files that large? Or A&T and Verizon's data caps?
* His description of Qualcomm's efforts to put 4G LTE in cars. Why would I want to pay for that when a) my phone already has data service, and b) I as the driver can hardly use any of that bandwidth behind the wheel?
