Unsound ideas, pt. 2: Can't manufacturers at least standardize on basic connectivity?
The other thing that bugged me about my tour of the Auto Show was seeing that, like last year, manufacturers can't even all settle on what inputs all cars should have.
Once again, the humble line-in aux jack went missing on some vehicles: an Audi S4 and an Infiniti G convertible with the pricier Bose sound system each lacked that component, which would have added maybe $10 to their already-high prices.
VW, meanwhile, made the mistake of thinking only Apple makes media players and smartphones--the "multimedia jack" in the Beetle only supports the iPhone and (most) iPods.
